This 1883 photo of several North Bay pioneers was taken in front of a CPR hut on Main Street (where the Cochrane Dunlop building is now).
Standing is R. Long, photographer, W.E. Bengall, chief CPR dispatcher and John Bourke, CPR dispatcher and later the first mayor of North Bay. Sitting is W.K. Martin, CPR agent, Mattawa, and Dr. Archibald McMurchy, CPR surgeon and North Bay’s first doctor.
The back cover of the October issue of A Bit of the Bay Magazine has this photo underneath a water colour by George Thompson, from Karin McMurchy collection.
Both were posted previously on the A Bit of the Bay Facebook Group page. Be part of the push to get the membership up to 12,000 and visit HERE.
