Welcome to A Bit of the Bay
Magazine, a multi-media story-telling enterprise focusing on North Bay,
Ontario, Canada. Our goal is to intertwine heritage features with current issues,
stories and events.
This glossy colour print
magazine is published at the beginning of each month. The inaugural issue hit
the streets of North Bay Sept. 1, 2019.
More than one platform:
The magazine is one division of A
Bit of the Bay Productions, a partnership between Dave Dale and Jeff Fournier,
the originator of the A Bit of the Bay Facebook Group that has grown to more
than 14,800 members. Almost daily posts of old photos, advertisements and
videos are shared there with members adding comments (strictly monitored by the
administrator) to reminisce about days gone by and reconnect with long-lost
Our website is a go-between for
the Facebook Group and print product. Stories will sometimes grow online there before
the polished piece is told in ink while the Video Page will feature interviews that
become the basis for some magazine stories. It’s also a meeting place to find
all kinds of video productions about the Gateway of the North.
We print 6,000 copies and distribute
them in strategic locations so the advertisers benefit from the circulation. The plan, however, is to build up a subscription base and integrate retail sales.
